Megan is out of surgery and in Intensive Care !!!!!! Another MRI scan has
been scheduled for today to determine how much of the tumour has remained.
The surgeons believe they have removed most of the tumour leaving a small
residual amount on a main artery.
We got to see Megan and she is opening her eyes and moving her left arm and
leg. The neurosurgeons believe it will take a little longer for her to
move her right side.
She is a fighter.
Sunday 29th April 2001 21:35
Surgery is proceeding as expected. The surgeons believe they are
approximately "half way".
Sunday 29th April 2001 18:55
Megan was taken down to the Operating Theatre at 09:05 this morning.
The only thing we have heard at this stage is that things are progressing very
slowly. The waiting game continues.
Sunday 29th April 2001 00:35
We were admitted into hospital on Saturday. Megan's neurosurgeon has
been called in to perform emergency surgery in the early hours so at this point
Megan's surgery may be postponed for a few hours.
Friday 27th April 2001
Megan will be admitted into the Royal Children's Hospital on Saturday
afternoon in preparation for surgery on Sunday morning. Surgery will
commence at 8:30 am and is expected to take 24+ hours.
The intention of the surgeons is to remove all of the tumour although the
likelihood of a complete re-section is small. This surgery also carries a
large risk factor due to the length of the procedure. At completion of
surgery, Megan will go into Intensive Care to recover until she is in a stable
condition.
Thursday 26th April 2001
Pre-Op MRI Scan to be performed. Hopefully we will find out when Megan
will be admitted.
