Friday 22nd June 2001 What a week!!! Megan hits the 6 month mark in fine form - her weigh in breaking the 6 kilos and putting her well on the road to catching up with all the other 6 monthers. Just check out those legs! Dare I say she takes after her mummy & daddy??!! :)
Due to popular demand (or should we say constant whinging?) you may have noticed the teddies & hands have been removed. For those who found them less annoying, and quite cute, they can be "played with" on a new page called PLAY PEN (accessible from 'HOME'). Wednesday 20th June 2001 Megan is 6 months old today!! Happy 1/2 Birthday. Another milestone achieved.
Tuesday 19th June 2001 Today marks the day that Megan has been home for the longest number of consecutive days since birth. Friday 15th June 2001 A whole week has passed, making it now 4 weeks at home. Life is pretty good and we appear to be fast approaching "normal" . Sounds a bit scary doesn't it? We have been out as a "family" more than once this week and Megan has had the dreaded "tube" removed. She still hasn't really formed any kind of pattern with her DDAVP but we are beginning to understand it a little more and incorporating it into our life is alot easier now. Megan has fortnightly visits from Leanne from RVIB (Royal Victorian Institute of the Blind) to help stimulate the vision she does have. For all the "mums" out there who know just how much is spent on toys for babies would be amazed at the assortment of toys she has. The "play-gyms" in stores don't quite compete with the one Megan has now - including a chip packet turned inside out, metal cups, a bell in a plastic ball inside a wire whisk, gold beads and plastic bangles all held on with hat elastic! I'm not quite sure how you would market this one at Babyco? :) We've included a few "tubeless" pictures for you. Megan (as you might have noticed by the double chin) is putting on weight nicely and at last check weighed in at 5.920kg.
The cost-effective, visually stimulating play-gym.
We're trying to catch a 'Megan smile' - nearly there!
Casey still loves Megan!
Friday 8th June 2001 We have now been home for 3 weeks!!! Wednesday 6th June 2001 We had a panic visit to the hospital today as Megan spiked a high temperature which had been brewing for a few days now. Her fluid balance remained "in the negative" (ie. she weed more than she drank) and we feared that she was becoming dehydrated. To make the situation worse, she developed a nasty red rash around her eyes, ears and chin. After being reassured by her doctor that all was well - that her sodium level was "Megan normal" and the rash was more than likely eczema - something a 'normal' baby can get! We are home again now, a cream for her skin has settled the rash down dramatically, we are in positive fluid balance once again and parents are much happier! It has also been decided to extend out to blood tests every other day and hopefully we will have no more panic attacks this week. Sunday 3rd June 2001 No real news to report – the week
has travelled quite nicely since we had our wonderful news on Wednesday.
Megan’s sodium levels and wee outputs have behaved themselves
reasonably well, but still are not showing any distinct patterns so we are still
on daily blood tests. We thought we would put in a few
“home pictures” for you – we hope you like them!
Megan has spent over half her life
in hospital (we did a count – it is 90 days in hospital v’s 75 at home) –
does this qualify her as a nurse?
Megan in a dress…so cute!
Casey loves Megan….can you tell???
